District Administration, Rupnagar organises first mini marathon

With the aim of motivating the youth of the district to adopt a healthy lifestyle, District Administration on Sunday organized the first mini marathon which was flagged off by MLA Rupnagar, Advocate Dinesh Chadha at the Nehru Stadium.
While addressing the participants on this occasion, Chadha said that this is a commendable effort of the district administration to motivate the youth towards sports.
Sports play an important role in living a healthy and disease less life he said adding that it also inculcate virtues such as discipline, morality, and patience etc.
Speaking on this occasion, Deputy Commissioner, Rupnagar, Himanshu Jain said that the first mini marathon witnessed overwhelming response from the residents. About 1200 young boys, girls, children and senior citizens participated in it with great enthusiasm.
He said that witnessing the success of this mini marathon, Distt administration will definitely organize it every year as marathon will not only encourage the youth towards sports, but also inspire them to work hard and succeed in their lives.
Meanwhile, he specially thanked the differently abled children who came from Government Primary Schools, Prabh Asra and Prakash Memorial School for taking part in the marathon despite their difficult lives and making it a success.
He also honored Ujjvan Bank, Rajni Herbal, Lahori Jira, Rupnagar Paddler, NCC Academy, Rotary Club, District Athletic Association, Pro Ultimate Gym, Atul Fitness Marshall and other supporters on the occasion. After this, the marathon ended with a Bhangra performance by the students of Government College Ropar.
