Maiden Convocation Ceremony of AIIMS Bathinda addressed by The President of India

The President of India, Droupadi Murmu graced the convocation ceremony at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bathinda.

It was a historical milestone for the institute as it hosted its First Convocation Ceremony. The prestigious event also witnessed the presence of esteemed dignitaries Gulab Chand Kataria, the Governor of Punjab, Gurmeet Singh Khuddian, Cabinet Minister, Government of Punjab, Prof. Anil Kumar Gupta, President of AIIMS Bathinda, Prof. Meenu Singh, the Executive Director AIIMS Bathinda, faculty members, students and their proud families.

Prof. Anil Kumar Gupta, President of AIIMS Bathinda, Extended a Heartfelt Welcome to the  President of India. The Executive Director of AIIMS Bathinda presented a report on the progress made by the institute since its inception. Notable progress of the institute has been seen in the field of patient care, research and teaching.

AIIMS Bathinda conferred 9 Gold Medals in recognition of their academic excellence and 49 degrees to MBBS graduates. MD, MS, and MDS students were also awarded with 6 Gold Medals and a total of 36 degrees.

The  Governor of Punjab delivered an inspiring speech, commending AIIMS Bathinda for its commitment to medical education and innovation. He also highlighted the bridging gaps in healthcare availability in the country. The  President of India addressed the gathering, emphasizing the significance of healthcare, research, and AIIMS’ pivotal role in shaping the future of medical education in India.

She expressed satisfaction over the improving healthcare facilities to the masses by setting up of new AIIMS. She appealed to develop AIIMS Bathinda as a regional centre for excellence in medical care and education. She also emphasised on the need for focused research on diseases prevalent in the area and emerging diseases like obesity and cancer. She asked the faculty and students to strive towards setting high standards for achieving excellence in their fields.

The students took ‘Charak Shapath’, as the oath for allegiance to the profession.
