The President of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) Harmeet Singh Kalka today vehemently stated that the Gurdwara Body under will never allow evaluation of the Gurdwara properties, as being alleged by former Presidents.

Kalka adds that he would that the political opponents are blaming him for the faults they have committed during their respective tenures as heads of the DSGMC.

Addressing the media persons at New Delhi, Kalka told: “The problem in the schools run by DSGMC began in 2006 during when former  president and six pay commission was announced. The then committee failed to deal with the situation arising from the pay hike announced by the pay commission”.

Again in the pay commission of 2016, the salaries were further hiked and the then DSGMC again failed to pay the salaries as per the hike. The arrears of the two salary hikes piled up to a huge amount and the cases were field in the courts of law by the stakeholders from the DSGMC run schools.

“When we took over three years ago we tried to resolve the problem, we have been defending the cases of the courts and also gave assistance Rs. 114 crore to the schools run by the DSGMC to pay up the salary hike and the arrears”, said Kalka who adds that the intentions of present committee are very clear that it would not allow a single paise donated by the sangat to be misused.

“I have assure everyone, particularly the staff in these schools that a system has been evolved to pay the arrears for the salary hike, but my two opponents are creating hurdles and bringing bad name of the Gurdwara body to further their political motives ”, said Kalka.

Further reiterating his stand on the issue of evaluation of Gurdwara Properties, Kalka said that his lawyers have given in writing to the courts: “As per Sikh faith and religious history of the Gurdwara, these properties at the first instance cannot be treated as properties and also as per the Gurdwara Act of 1971, Sri Guru Granth Sahib is the owner of these properties so an evaluation cannot be conducted.

“We submitted the list of properties as per by the court’s procedure, and categorically refused to take a step beyond that”, he added.

It is sad and shocking that the lawyers fielded by the former presidents  against DGSMC seek evaluation of properties in the court and outside the court the two leaders cry hoarse against all the office bearers of the DSGMC for getting properties evaluated.
