Offer by World Punjabi Organisation to work for betterment of DSGMC run educational institutions is a welcome step- Kalka

The Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC) President Harmeet Singh Kalka today asked Rajya Sabha Member Vikramjeet Singh Sahney led Word Punjabi Organisation to submit proposal before the Gurudwara Committee for betterment and uplifting Guru Harkishan Singh Public Schools being run in the national capital.
There are 12 such schools and other educational institutions being run by the DSGMC and for past few years, these institutions are facing a crisis.
“We are ready to take the support of World Punjab Organisation to bring back these schools back to glory as they were the pride of the Sikhs in the Delhi”, said Kalka. On coming to power in 2022, our team took bold decisions to make usage of funds in a transparent manner and this step is helping us restore the Gurudwara Committee and the schools and other institutions.
Kalka was speaking on the occasion of a facilitation program organised by World Punjabi Organisation for newly elected team of DSGMC which came was formed after election of office bearers last week.
“It is our collective responsibility to save the pride of the DSGMC run schools and we will accept any proposal brought before us to save these schools”, announced Kalka.
Other than Sahney, cabinet minister in Delhi government Manjinder Singh Sirsa and former Rajya Sabha member Tarlochan Singh were also present.
“It makes me sad that our schools are facing crisis which used to be the best in New Delhi, but we are committed to restore the glory of our schools”, said Kalka. The Delhi government is ready to support the schools and we should make best use of the opportunity, said DSGMC president Harmeet Singh Kalka.
During the meeting the top Sikhs leaders also held discussions to commemorate 350th year of martyrdom day of Ninth Guru – Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji that falls in November month.
“To commemorate martyrdom day we will organise Nagar Kirtans, Dharam Parchar programs and Sarab Dharma sammellan and inter-faith debates. We will involve the Delhi state government in commemoration functions”, informed Kalka. He further informed that DSGMC is planning to start a Law College for which active planning is underway.
Speaking on boycott of the office bearers elections by Shiromani Akali Dal, Kalka said that move should not be called boycott but a failure on them as they have only 10-12 members in the 51-member general house.
