Renowned Raagi honoured with “Shiromani Raagi Award” by DSGMC

On the spiritual occasion of the Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Har Krishan Sahib Ji, the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee honoured the renowned Raagi, Bhai Gurmeet Singh ‘Shant’ — a Hazoori Raagi of Sri Darbar Sahib, Amritsar — with the prestigious “Shiromani Raagi award.
The honour, which carries a cash reward of Rs 11 lakh, was conferred during a special ceremony held at Bhai Lakhi Shah Vanjara Hall, located within the historic Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib complex here today.
Addressing the gathering on the ocasion DSGMC President Harmeet Singh Kalka stated that Bhai Gurmeet Singh ‘Shant’ has maintained the ancient tradition of Sikh raags, elevating Gurbani Kirtan with spiritual depth, melodious expression, and classical richness. He praised Bhai Sahib’s exemplary contribution to Sikh art, culture, and devotional music.
Kalka further emphasized that the DSGMC remains firmly committed to promoting Gurmat Sangeet and honouring those who preserve and perform Kirtan in accordance with Sikh Rehat Maryada .
The event was attended by a large number of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Mangement Committee members, prominent religious leaders, Kirtani Jathas, and devotees, making it a truly memorable occasion of spiritual and cultural pride.
