Though the elections in Punjab are on May 19, but Patiala Police got a major success in seizing Rs 1.00 crore of banned currency notes , 1.54 lacs of new currency notes along with prohibited .455 bore gun, one pistol with 13 live cartages from three persons at Rajpura. The Police seized Rs 85 lacs of banned Rs 1000 note and 15 lacs of banned 500 note.

Earlier Patiala Police got a major success when they seize 92.50 lacs in cash during a special checking at National Highway Narwana Road near barrier, Dhabi Gujran village Patran in Patiala district and Rs. 13 lacs from nabha amid restrictions clamped under the model code of conduct for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Disclosing this Patiala SSP Mandeep Singh Sidhu said that a police team laid a naka on specific information, led by Inspector Bhupinder Singh SHO City Rajpura intercepted a Verna car no HR 01 a 8146 at Midway dhaba on GT road . On checking they found the banned currency along with new currency from the car. The occupant failed to produce the record of transaction of the currency and to give any satisfactory answer about the seized banned currency notes. SSP said that they will inform the District Electoral Officer along with the Income Tax officials, Enforcement Directorate officers, for further investigation.

SSP further informed that a case under Specified Bank Act 2017 and section 420 IPC including 25/27/54/59 Arms Act at Police Station Rajpura City. SP (Investigation) Harmeet singh Hundal ,DSP Rajpura Manpreet Singh along with other police officials were also present in the press conference
