MC Patiala fixes ‘Shagun’ amount to be given to eunuchs for birth, marriage functions

The Patiala Municipal Corporation (PMC) has fixed the “shagun” amount to be given to eunuchs during functions.
The house today passed a resolution fixing the “shagun” amount to be given to eunuchs during functions. For marriage functions, the fixed amount is Rs 3,100, and for the birth of a child, it is Rs 2,100. This decision was made in response to complaints about eunuchs demanding excessive amounts during these events.
The MC will be writing to the senior superintendent of police (SSP) for implementation of this decision, and residents can approach the MC or police if they are charged more.
Patiala Municipal Corporation has passed this resolution the general house after complaints about harassment and embarrassment caused by eunuchs demanding exorbitant amounts, sometimes up to five figures per function. The MC also received complaints about eunuchs turning up uninvited, dancing to loud music, and threatening to invoke curses if their demands were not met.
Earlier, Mohali Municipal Corporation was the first to fix the Shagun amount for eunuchs.
