77th annual sports day marked at YPS, Patiala

Yadavindra Public School, Patiala celebrated its 77th Annual Sports Day with great zeal and enthusiasm. More than 1400 students participated in this grand celebration of sportsmanship and spirit. The YPS Board of Governors, school authorities, teachers, parents, and alumni from the Silver Jubilee Batch (2000) and Golden Jubilee Batch (1975) witnessed the magnificent event.
The celebrations this year commenced a day prior, on November 7, when the Golden and Silver Jubilee batches joined the present Yadavindrians for a friendly series of basketball and cricket matches, rekindling their cherished school memories. The day also witnessed a tree plantation drive, reinforcing the school’s commitment towards sustainability and a greener campus. As a token of gratitude and in celebration of their lasting bond with their alma mater, the Silver Jubilee Batch (2000) gifted an international-level Techno Turf Basketball Court to the school, adding yet another feather to the YPS sporting infrastructure.
The main celebration on November 8 began with the arrival of the Chief Guest, Manavjit Singh Sandhu, Member, Indian Shooting Team, recipient of the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna & Arjuna Award, distinguished Olympian and legendary Trap Shooter, World Champion and Former World No.1. The Headmaster of YPS, Patiala, Navin Kumar Dixit, welcomed the Chief Guest and addressed the gathering.
The students of Classes X–XII presented a grand and synchronized March Past, saluting the Chief Guest to the rousing tunes of the school Pipe Band. The ceremonial flame was lit by the four star athletes of the school, followed by the oath-taking ceremony administered by the School Head Boy.
Around 1400 students from the Foundation, Junior, and Middle Wings displayed a perfect blend of energy, discipline, and coordination through a variety of spirited events like Aero modelling, Equestrian Show, Yoga, Tiny Twisters Zumba, Aerobics, PT Drills, and Rhythmic Dance Performances. The final rounds of various inter-house athletic events were also held, culminating in the announcement of the winning house of the year.
Following tradition, the Silver and Golden Jubilee batches relived their glorious school days by enthusiastically participating in the alumni races and March Past, infusing the stadium with nostalgia and unmatched excitement.
The esteemed Chief Guest distributed prizes to the winners of various sports events and appreciated the students’ remarkable performances. He lauded the school for nurturing both mental and physical excellence among its students.
The 77th Annual Sports Day not only commemorated the sporting achievements of the year but also celebrated the enduring Yadavindrian spirit of teamwork, perseverance, and discipline. The mass participation and exuberant atmosphere reflected the true ethos and values of Yadavindra Public School, Patiala.
