All India Seminar on AI-Driven Electronics & Communication Concludes Successfully

The two-day All India Seminar on “Advances of Electronics & Communication in the Artificial Intelligence Era” was successfully organized by The Institution of Engineers (India), Punjab and Chandigarh State Centre, under the aegis of the Electronics and Telecommunication Division Board, in association with the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Punjabi University, Patiala.

The seminar commenced on February 6 at Punjabi University with an inaugural session attended by distinguished academicians, engineers, and students from various institutions. The programme began with the presentation of bouquets to the dignitaries, followed by a welcome address by Dr. Baljit Singh Khehra, Chairman, IEI Punjab & Chandigarh State Centre. Dr. Reecha Sharma, Convener of the seminar, introduced the theme and objectives of the event.

Dr. Jagtar Singh Sivia, Council Member IE(I) and Chairman of the Electronics and Telecommunication Division Board, highlighted the growing importance of electronics and communication technologies in the era of artificial intelligence and encouraged young engineers to focus on innovation and research.

Prof. (Dr.) Kulwinder Singh Malhi, Head of the ECE Department, emphasized the department’s commitment to advanced research in emerging technologies. The Guest of Honour, Prof. (Dr.) Jaswinder Singh Brar, Dean Academic Affairs, Punjabi University, appreciated the initiative and stressed the need for strong industry–academia collaboration.

In his inaugural address, Chief Guest Prof. (Dr.) Jagdeep Singh, Vice Chancellor, Punjabi University, underscored the significance of AI in modern engineering and urged students and researchers to work on practical, socially relevant solutions.

The inaugural session concluded with the presentation of mementoes and a vote of thanks by Dr. Kulwinder Singh Malhi Head ECE Punjabi University Patiala .

The technical sessions across both days featured expert lectures by Dr. Anju Bala, Dr. Neeru Jindal, Dr. Vishal Goyal, Dr. Williamjeet Singh, Dr. Priyanka Gupta, Dr. Reecha Sharma, Dr. Harmanjot Singh, and Dr. Jatinder Saini. The sessions focused on emerging trends and practical applications of artificial intelligence in electronics, communication networks, embedded systems, and related technologies. The discussions were highly interactive and witnessed enthusiastic participation from delegates, researchers, and students.

The valedictory session was held on February 7 at the IEI Punjab and Chandigarh State Centre, Sector 19, Chandigarh. The session began with a welcome address by Dr. Baljit Singh Khehra, Chairman, IEI Punjab & Chandigarh State Centre. Dr. Harmanjot Singh, Co-Convener of the seminar, presented the seminar report and highlighted the key outcomes of the event.

Guest of Honour Prof. (Dr.) Manjit Singh Bhamra, Dean Faculty of Engineering, Punjabi University, appreciated the successful organization of the seminar and emphasized the importance of AI-based research in modern engineering education.

In his valedictory address, Chief Guest Prof. (Dr.) T.S. Kamal, Former Vice-President of the Institution of Engineers (India), encouraged young engineers to adopt innovative approaches and interdisciplinary research to meet future technological challenges.

Mementoes were presented to the dignitaries, and the seminar concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Jatinder Saini, Joint Honorary Secretary, IEI Punjab & Chandigarh State Centre.

The two-day seminar provided a valuable platform for knowledge sharing and collaboration among academicians, industry experts, and students, and highlighted the growing role of artificial intelligence in shaping the future of electronics and communication technologies.
