The Punjab Government has suspended Ramandeep Kaur, Tehsildar of Khamano tehsil in Fatehgarh Sahib district, with immediate effect. During the suspension period, her headquarters will remain at Rupnagar.
The suspension follows allegations that she registered multiple sale deeds and conveyance deeds pertaining to properties located in Ludhiana district at the Khamano sub-registrar office, which falls under Fatehgarh Sahib district.
There is a saying, “With money in your pocket, you are wise, you are handsome, and you sing well too.” This proverb seems to have proven true for certain illegal colonizers and real estate businessmen of Ludhiana, who allegedly found support in Tehsildar Ramandeep Kaur, posted at Khamano in Fatehgarh Sahib.
According to available information, more than a dozen property registries were allegedly processed under her authority. These properties reportedly fall within the jurisdiction of Ludhiana district and were registered without the mandatory No Objection Certificates (NOCs), including cases linked to unauthorized or previously cancelled colonies.
Sources claim that the registrations were carried out despite clear jurisdictional limitations and existing government regulations. The matter has raised concerns over procedural violations and possible misuse of authority.
As per sources, “the officer acted with confidence due to alleged proximity to certain senior bureaucrats in the Punjab cadre. “
An inquiry into the matter is expected to determine the extent of any irregularities and fix accountability.
