40 Anganwadi Centres in Barnala Get Major Facelift at Rs 2.80 Crore: Meet Hayer

In a significant step towards strengthening early childhood care and grassroots infrastructure, the Punjab Government has given a major facelift to 40 Anganwadi Centres in Barnala district at a total cost of Rs 2.8 crore.
Member of Parliament (Sangrur) Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer, highlighted that new Anganwadi buildings have been constructed in 25 villages at a cost of Rs 2.5 crore, with each new centre built at an approximate cost of Rs 10 lakh.
Additionally, upgradation work has been carried out in 15 villages at a cost of Rs. 30.87 lakh. New furniture and utensils worth Rs. 67 lakh have also been provided across all Anganwadi centres in the district for the comfort of children.
New Anganwadi Centres Constructed in district include village Kothe Niranjan Singh Wala, Jhaloor, Sekha, Karmgarh, Pandher, Nangal, Aspal Kalan, Bhaini Mehraj, Kaleke, Hamidi, Bhaini Fatta, Bakhtgarh, Nainewal, Pakhoke, Dhilwan, Dhaula, Wazidke Kalan, Dhaner, Kurar, Chhapa, Gagewal, Pandori, Channanwal and Mahal Kalan.

The upgradation work is carried out in the villages including Khudi Kalan, Sohal Patti, Manal, two centres in Upli, Dangarh, Bhatthlan, Harigarh, Aspal Kalan, Rajia, Rureke Kalan, Sehjra, Jodhpur, Bakhtgarh, and Vidhate. Work in Gumti village is expected to be completed soon.
Deputy Commissioner Harpreet Singh, IAS, informed that 669 Anganwadi centres are currently operational in Barnala district.
Through the Department of Women and Child Development, essential furniture and utensils have been provided to all centres at a total cost of nearly Rs 67 lakh.
These modernised Anganwadi centres will provide a safe, bright, and well-equipped space where young children can learn, play, and grow in a joyful environment, he added.
