A Basic Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (BNRP) Course was organized by the Department of Paediatrics, Government Medical College Patiala, under the leadership of Dr. Baljinder Kaur, with the guidance and support of Dr. R.P.S. Sibia and the Medical Superintendent, Govt Rajindra Hospital, Patiala.
A total of 40 participants, including nursing staff and first- and second-year postgraduate students, were trained in Basic Neonatal Resuscitation techniques with the aim of reducing newborn mortality and morbidity. The programme focused on enhancing essential life-saving skills that contribute significantly to improving the quality of healthcare services.

This year’s BNRP skill enhancement initiative assumed greater significance as nearly 1,100 such courses were conducted simultaneously across India in an effort to create a world record under the aegis of the National Neonatology Forum and the Indian Academy of Pediatrics, with support from paediatricians across the world.
