A delegation of the Non-Teaching Employees Union Punjab met Punjab Higher Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains and DPI Colleges Punjab regarding the long-pending release of grants to aided colleges across the state. Due to the non-release of grants for a long time, teaching and non-teaching staff members of aided colleges have been facing severe financial difficulties and unrest.
During the meeting, the union delegation informed Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains that employees of aided colleges had not received salaries for several months because grants had not been released by the government. Taking serious notice of the issue, the minister immediately issued directions to the concerned department officials over the phone to resolve the matter at the earliest.
Sharing details, Non-Teaching Employees Union Punjab Press Secretary Tejinder Singh said that another delegation of the union also met DPI Colleges Punjab H.S. Brar regarding the same issue and other pending demands. The delegation strongly raised the matter of releasing grants and highlighted that both teaching and non-teaching staff members were suffering due to financial hardship caused by delayed salaries.

DPI Colleges Punjab H.S. Brar listened carefully to the concerns raised by the delegation and issued instructions to department officials and employees on the spot. He assured the union representatives that the pending grants would be released by the beginning of next week.
The delegation included Non-Teaching Employees Union Punjab President Swinder Singh Gola, General Secretary Jagdeep Singh, Organizing Secretary Prem Singh, Gajinder Singh, and Ravinderpal Singh from Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Khalsa College, Anandpur Sahib. Contractor Bachittar Singh Bains was also specially present on the occasion.
