UGC-MMTTC, Punjabi University starts two off-line courses simultaneously to enhance research skills in higher education institutes

The UGC-Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC) at Punjabi University, Patiala, has launchedGuru Dakshta Faculty Induction Programme and Short Term Course in “Research Methodology and Ethics”in an offline mode, bringing together a diverse group of academicians from across the country.

The Guru Dakshta Faculty Induction Programme and Short Term Course in “Research Methodology and Ethics” will be conducted offline, offering participants an immersive learning experience. This Guru Dakshta Faculty Induction Programmemarks not just the beginning of teaching career, but the shaping of countless young minds.As educators, Participants do more than impart knowledge:  as inspire, guide, and lead by example.The purpose of this induction is to introduce best teaching practices, and foster a spirit of collaboration and innovation. And the Short Term Course in “Research Methodology and Ethics” is designed to provide opportunity to reflect, learn, unlearn, and most importantly to grow together as educators and researchers. The FIP and Short TermCourse aims to bridge the gap between foundational knowledge and cutting-edge research.

Prof. (Dr.) Raman Maini, Director of MMTTC and Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Punjabi University, Patiala expressed his heartfelt thanks to the Vice Chancellor, for his continuous support to all the Courses organised by UGC-MMTTC, Punjabi University Patiala.

Dr. Maini welcomed the chief guest of the day, Prof. (Dr.) Jaswinder Singh Brar, Dean Academic Affairs, Punjabi University, Patiala, the guest of honour Prof. (Dr.) Balraj Singh Saini, Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering and Dean College Development Council, Punjabi University, Patiala, Course Coordinator of Guru Dakshta Faculty Induction Programme,Dr. Abhinav Bhandari, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Punjabi University, Patialaand Co-coordinator Dr. Sumandeep Kaur, Assistant Professor,Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Punjabi University, Patiala, Course Coordinator of  Short Term Course in “Research Methodology and Ethics”, Dr. Suresh Kumar, Professor, Department of Pharmaceutical Sci. & Drug Research, Punjabi University, Patialaand Co-coordinator Dr. Bharti Sapra, Department of Pharmaceutical Sci. & Drug Research, Punjabi University, Patiala and all the Participants.

The Guest of Honour Prof. (Dr.) Balraj Singh Saini, Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering and Dean College Development Council, Punjabi University, Patialaexpressed gratitude toand for their efforts in organizing these programmes and securing the participation of distinguished resource persons. He also said that “Together, let’s build a community of educators committed to excellence, empathy, and lifelong learning. Welcome aboard, and let this be the beginning of a fulfilling and transformative journey”.He appreciated the efforts of non-teaching staff members for their hard work in organising these courses.

The Course Coordinatorof Guru Dakshta Faculty Induction Programme,Dr. Abhinav Bhandari,highlighted the objectives and significance of the Faculty Induction Programme, stating that FIP plays a crucial role in orienting newly appointed faculty members towards effective teaching-learning practices, academic responsibilities, research orientation, and professional ethics.He also briefed the participants about the structure, themes, and expected outcomes of the programme.He stressed the importance of such FIP courses.

Course Co-CoordinatorofGuru Dakshta Faculty Induction Programme,Dr. SumandeepKaur, introduced participants to the course themes and structure. Dr. Sumandeep Kaur emphasised the importance of faculty induction programmes in nurturing academic excellence, professional competence, and ethical responsibility among teachers. She highlighted that such programmes provide a strong foundation in pedagogy, research orientation, and institutional values. She expressed appreciation for the collaborative efforts of the organising team and extended a warm welcome to all participants.

The Course Coordinator of Short Term Course in Research Methodology and Ethics,Dr. Suresh Kumar,highlighted the objectives of the program, stressing its role in fostering a research-oriented mindset among academicians and professionals.He further encouraged young scholars to imbibe values of originality and authenticity in their work, which would ultimately enhance the credibility of Indian academia at the global stage. He said that this course energizes your academic pursuits and strengthens the spirit of scientific inquiry and wish for a meaningful and enriching learning experience. Course Co-Coordinator of Short Term Course in Research Methodology and Ethics,Dr. Bharti Sapra, Professor, Department of Pharmaceutical Sci. & Drug Research, Punjabi University, Patiala, introduced participants to the course themes and structure. She elaborated that the programme will cover key areas such as Fundamentals of Research Methodology and Ethics. Dr. Sapra encouraged active engagement and collaborative learning among participants.

At the end of the inaugural session, Dr. SumandeepKaur, Faculty Induction Programme, Course Co-coordinator proposed a vote of thanks.

During the closing remarks, Dr Maini extended heartfelt praise and gratitude to the dedicated staff members Dr. Mandeep Singh (Sr. System Analyst), Dyal Dutt (Technical Assistant), Surinder Singh, Kanta Rani, Mahaveer Singh and Surinder Kumar highlighting their exemplary organizational skills and crucial contributions in the online Short-Term Course.
