Students of Electronics & Communication branch Punjabi University placed; brought laurels

The recruitment season for the year 2019-20 opened with a remarkable upswing in its placement record. It has succeeded a high note by getting 100 % placements done by 36 high profile companies with packages ranging from 4 to 15 lakhs.
Punjabi University Vice Chancellor Prof BS Ghuman took personal initiative in the student’s placement drive last year as well which has given away finally very positive results in this year. He analyzed meticulously the gap between the Industry requirements and the course contents of the department by taking inputs and feedbacks from visiting company professionals.
Finally, his deep involvement with which he had been able to identify grey areas brought the glorious results in the placement of students of Electronics departments. He emphasized in a function organized by the Engineering department to sustain this magnificent achievements in the forthcoming years.
Dr Manjit Singh, Director Placement of Punjabi University, Patiala revealed through a press release that hallmark of this year is that Eleven (11) students from Electronics department are placed in a Multi National Company (MNC) with a package of 14 lakhs. He also added that students of Electronics department are treated at par with the computer science engineering students by all the IT companies.
This year placements opened with the visit of Infosys which is a global leader in technology services and consulting and selected 104 students. The other students of the department have been taken by reputed corporate houses like Futurefirst, Quark, SAPLabs, TCS, Western Shipping, Zoxima Solutions, NIIT Technologies, Daffodils, Xenonstack, TT Consultants, Bebo Technologies, Safeaeon, Cognizant, Enest, etc. at lucrative salary packages.
Dr Manjeet Singh Bhamrah, Head Electronics & Communication Engineering, congratulated all the placed students of Electronics department & added that the Electronics department has gained significantly by introducing a new branch Electronics & Computer Engineering. Electronics students are given value addition knowledge through Electives in every semester of Engineering and courses like Artificial Intelligence, Computer Networks etc.
It is also proposed to commence Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Field from next academic session in the department. He believes that phenomenal placements of this batch will give big boost to admission in coming years in the department.
Dr Pankaj Mohindru, Placement Incharge & Publicity Coordinator of the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering said that the present scenario is such that Electronics & Communication students are preferred by all the Information Technology (IT), Multi National Companies. He also added that presently Electronics Engineering students are very much in demand because there are significant projects going on worldwide in telecommunication field.
Dr Pankaj Mohindru, Chairman, Human Rights Cell, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee mentioned that youth of Punjab needs suitable employment after completing their education. The 100 % placements in the department of Engineering of Punjabi University, Patiala is very much in alignment with the present Punjab Government objectives of providing Ghar Ghar Rozgar an initiative which has been taken quite vigorously by Captain Government.
