Punjabi Folk Songs Captivates the Students of GKU

University College of Basic Sciences and Humanities (UCBS&H), Guru Kashi University organized an event “Punjabi Folk Songs” on the occasion of Lohri.

Dr. Labh Singh Kheva, Dean, UCB&H welcomed the guests and apprised about the significance of the folk songs in the Punjabi Culture. He said “These programmes provide platform to the Students that nourish their talent.”

Folk singer, Dalwinder Kaur was the chief guest of the function. Mrs Kaur beguiled the audience with her folk songs that reflected traditional life style and Punjabi culture. Her songs included Chan KitheGzjariAyee Rat, JutiKasuriParinaPuri, Channan di Phulkari topaKaunBhare, IkmeriAkhKassni. Prof. Jaspal Singh, H.O.D, Department of Music also enthralled the audience by his Sufi song performance.

Dr. RamandeepKaur, Assistant Professor, Departemnt of Punjabi, coordinated the event. Dr. Balwant Singh Sandhu, HOD, Department of Punjabi appreciated the event by considering the folk songs as the soul of the Punjabi culture. Dr. Jagtar Singh Dhiman lauded the efforts of (UCBS&H) in organizing such cultural events.  R.L. Arora, H.R. Manager, GKU, Gurdev Singh, State officer, Sachpreet Kaur Kheva and all faculty of UCBS&H were also present in the cultural fest.
