Covid-19 outbreak: PSPCL facing hardships in distribution of salary

Though Covid 19 pandemic is still active, the government owned Punjab state power corporation limited (PSPCL), started facing the heat of financial crunch. The power corporation is planning to take loan from commercial institutions to disburse the salary of its employees for the month of March 2020. The situation is turning from bad to worse for Punjab state power corporation limited as the management is unable to pay the salaries to its employees, on time.

In a Memo issued by Chief Account’s officer, Headquarters, Punjab state power corporation limited (PSPCL) on April,2, vide number Spl-1/ Centralized payments, with subject-Payment of salary for the month of march 2020 admitted that PSPCL is too affected by the nationwide lockdown and imposition of curfew in Punjab and in this distress situation and financial crunch , PSPCL distributing the salary to some categories of employees.

As per the decision taken by the management of Punjab state power corporation limited (PSPCL) all new appointees who are on probation and all D class employees will get 100 percent salary. All C class employees drawing grade pay upto 3400/- will alos get 100 percent salary along with all employees with net salary upto Rs 30,000/- will get full salary.

Besides above categories all other employees will get 60 percent Net salary payable subject to minimum of Rs 30,000/- .

CMD and Directors will have to wait for their turn to get salary as they decide to get their pension only and will not get any salary for the month of March,2020

The management has decided to disburse the full payment pension to all the pensioners.

The management will also approach the government to release funds to fill its empty coffers.

Even few days back a decision was taken by the PSPCL management, CMD, Directors, PSEB Engineers association, JE Council and PSEB Thermal Employees Coordination Committee to jointly contribute their one day salary to the Punjab Chief Minister Relief Fund , but this salary deduction and distribution in parts will also affect this  donation.
