Dr Manmohan Singh paid obeisance at Golden Temple
Today former Prime Minister of India Dr Manmohan Singh and his wife Gursharan Kaur paid obeisance at Golden Temple Amritsar. He along with his wife listen the Gurbani for some time. SGPC honoured him and his wife with “Siropa”
Dr Manmohan Singh specially came to Amritsar to visit his alma mater Hindu College after 70 years, on Saturday., to attend an alumni meet and convocation. Dr Manmohan Singh did his BA (Hons.) in Economics in 1948 from Hindu College Amritsar. The famous Hindu College was established in the year 1924.
Dr Manmohan Singh gets nostalgic, as he had visited Amritsar many times but had not visited his alma mater, in between. He said he feel 2018 a special year as it bought him the chance to visit his own college, which I missed a lot. He thanked college management for inviting him. I feel proud to be a part of this prestigious institution. He said whatever he is today is only because of the efforts of his teachers of the college, especially Prof Kalia of Economics, who left a lasting impression upon him
He also shared his student life experience with the audience. He also disclosed that “I was the first student who was given roll of honour” as he topped the University. He also recalled the contribution of his principal SR Grover, Prof Mast Ram Jain, Prof Jugal Kishore Trikha,Principal BI Kapoor for, they out his hidden talent .He also remembered two other students Dr Rajinder Goswami and Raj Kumar who were his contemporaries.
