Vigilance won’t tolerate corruption; arrested Patiala MC employee-Sidhu

A case FIR No. 17 dt. 10-10-2020 u/s 7, 7 (A), PC Act Police station Vigilance Bureau Patiala has been registered  on the statement of  Jaspreet Singh s/o Ram Singh R/O  Patiala against Sunil Kumar Gulati Inspector Corporation Patiala and Rakesh Behal R/o Patiala.

Inspector Gulati demanded bribe of Rs. 25000/- from the complainant for the opening of  a seal on shutter of the shop of complainant at Tirpuri Town.

He added that the complainant has approached the Bureau and informed that the accused Inspector was demanding Rs. 50,000 to allow him to open new side door in his shop. He further added that he had already paid Rs. 40,000 to the accused inspector.

After verifying his information, the Vigilance team laid a trap and the middle man was caught red handed for accepting bribe of Rs.25000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.

Gulati directed the complainant to hand over Rs 25000/- as bribe to Rakesh Behal a Shop keeper of model town Patiala. Vigilance Party caught red handed accused Rakesh Behal while accepting Rs. 25000/- who received bribe on the behalf of accused Gulati. After the conversation of Rakesh Behal and Inspr. Gulati vigilance party also caught Inspector Gulati.

The spokesman said a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against both the accused at Vigilance Bureau Police Station, Patiala and further investigation was under progress.
