NRI’s from England, kin’s created ruckus on their arrival at Amritsar airport

Air India flight from United Kingdom with more than 250 passengers and crew members today landed in the wee hours, at Sri Guru Ram Das Jee International Airport in Amritsar.
The health authorities asked the passengers to go for Covid 19 test, at Amritsar airport itself, on their arrival from United Kingdom .
The passengers, their kin’s raised objection and argued with the authorities that “they had already got tested, before the departure of the flight from UK, than why the authorities are insisting for their covid test, on their arrival at Amritsar? Airport staff, health authorities had a tough time to counsel, control the passengers and their relatives.
The relatives waiting outside the airport said ‘we have to wait for another 8-10 hours extra. Why the government is not acknowledging the 72 hours earlier test done by UK health authorities?”
The authorities said,” the passengers were well informed, in the flight also that they would have to undergo a covid test on their landing at Amritsar airport, as this is the last flight from UK, after the govt imposed ban on UK flights, to anywhere in India. The govt is taking full precautions, in a bid to block new strain of coronavrius , detected in the UK.”
The authorities said “all the passengers, crew members are undergoing mandatory RT-PCR test, at Sri Guru Ram Das Jee International Airport in Amritsar. All flights from the UK to India have been banned from December22,2020 and this was the last flight to Amritsar.”
NRI’s from England, kin’s created ruckus on their arrival at Amritsar airport, whereas, as per reports, five persons, out of 266 passengers and crew members were tested positive , at Delhi airport from a flight coming from UK. The flight arrived at Delhi airport from London on Monday night.
