For the first time in the records of Punjabi university Patiala, since its inception, a history is created, as tomorrow’s schedule syndicate meeting February 25, 2021 is going to be held, outside the university campus, at Chandigarh. No, regular or officiating VC has ever held a syndicate meeting, outside the campus- at Chandigarh.

The registrar of the Punjabi university Patiala, in a last minute communiqué to all the syndicate members has asked them to come to Chandigarh for the meeting. “Now the syndicate meeting will be held at 11:00 am at the committee room, fourth floor, civil secretariat, sector 9, Chandigarh on February 25,2021” wrote in an official letter, addressed to the syndicate members.

Ravneet Kaur IAS , additional chief secretary Punjab is the officiating vice chancellor of the Punjabi university and sits at civil secretariat, sector 9, Chandigarh.

As per available information, the officiating vice chancellor has changed the venue from Patiala to Chandigarh, due to the high resentment prevailed against the government, her and university authorities for not adhering to employees demands.

The other major factor is the safai sewaks had thrown the garbage in front of the offices of the VC office, dean, registrar office, inside the university campus. They even alleged that she didn’t come to the university campus more than 3-4 times, in her around three months tenure.

A university faculty member said, “This move of the officiating vice chancellor is highly condemnable. She very well knows the financial condition of the university. She must come to Patiala, as she is the officiating VC and hold the meeting at mini secretariat, circuit house or at any of the government colleges, as their Principals is also syndicate members. The financial condition of the university has already gone from bad to worse. The university has eighteen syndicate members, and their TA-DA will brunt the university exchequer”
