Union govt takes another major decision on Remdesivir -Gowda

Union Minister for Chemical and Fertilizers D. V. Sadanand Gowda informed via Twitter that considering the immediate requirement on the recommendation of the Department of Pharmaceuticals, the Department of Revenue has waived customs duty on Remdesivir and its API/KSM. This step will further augment domestic availability of Remdesivir injection, he added.
There is already a ban on the export of the Remdesivir injection from the country.
The minister had earlier asked the state governments to take strict action against anyone found indulged in black marketing or hoarding of Remdesivir.
Black marketing, hoarding of Remdesivir is being strictly monitored and state governments have been advised to take strict action against those indulging in such malpractices, he had tweeted.
About Remdesivir injection-
Remdesivir injection is used to treat coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19 infection) caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus in hospitalized adults and children 12 years of age and older who weigh at least 88 pounds (40 kg). Remdesivir is in a class of medications called antivirals.
