Khalsa College organised Old Student Association meet
Patiala-G.S.S.D.G.S. Khalsa College, Patiala organised its Annual Old Students Association Meet with enthusiasm. The College awarded ‘College Ratan’ to six personalities from diverse fields with extraordinary achievements—Dr. Tara Singh Sandhu (Literature and welfare), Dr. Avtar Singh (Education), Jagjit Kaur Bajwa (Education), Onkar Singh (Sports), Madan Chouhan (Cultural Activities) and Afshana Badal (Cultural Activities). The former student of the college Dr. Sukhjit Singh Chahal, Surgeon, America, was present as the Chief Guest. Many ex-students attended this OSA meet and shared their experiences related to the college.
Dr. Sukhjit Singh Chahal, while addressing the audience, said that OSA is such a platform established by the college where former students belonging to different fields can share their views and experiences. He expressed his joy over the grand participation of the alumni of the college as they spared time out of their busy schedule to become part of the programme. It speaks volume about the gratitude and respect that they harbour in their hearts for the college. The successful careers of these personalities brought laurels to the college and the new generation should make these renowned personalities their role models.
Dr. Dharminder Singh Ubha, Principal of the college and Patron of OSA, while welcoming the guests said that the college is proud of its former students who have brought glory to the college through their achievements in various fields at National and International level. He also said that the college will always strive to organise such meets in future to strengthen its association with alumni.
The former students of the college who received ‘College Ratan’ award shared their past experiences. Dr. Tara Singh Sandhu, associated with literature, told about his contribution made to the memory of people who were uprooted in 1947 during partition. Dr. Avtar Singh who retired from Punjabi University, Patiala became emotional while talking about his college days. Jagjit Kaur Bajwa was overwhelmed on coming to the college after five decades. Onkar Singh said that he will always be indebted to the college for providing him value education. Madan Chouhan gave all the credit of his success to his college teachers. Afshana Badal, a melodious singer mesmerized the audience with her songs.
Prof. Ambika, General Secretary, OSA presented the annual report and thanked the newly appointed members of OSA and other members who financially support the college. Dr. Manju Mittal, Joint Secretary OSA presented the vote of thanks to the dignitaries. Prof. Jaspreet Kaur, Co-ordinator OSA made this OSA meet successful and joyful with her tireless efforts.
