Appeal to PSPCL employees to call off their protest; PSPCL is committed for 8 hr supply to farmers-CMD

PSPCL CMD  A. Venu Prasad  has instructed Punjab State Power Corporation limited officers/ employees to ensure 8 hours power supply to the farmers for paddy transplantation.

CMD informed that recently, power interruptions have been resulted due to power shortage owing to closure of one unit of the Talwandi Sabo thermal power plant in Mansa district and storms occurred on June 10th to 11th in different parts of the Punjab .

He said that in order to meet the increased power demand in the state due to hot summer and the ongoing paddy sowing season, Punjab state power Corporation limited is purchasing power to the tune of 1000 MW to 1100 MW from power exchange on day-to-day basis and in addition to existing availability of power. He said that corporation has made arrangements upto 13,700 MW to meet the maximum demand. On 24th June, PSPCL supplied        13,405 MW of power in the State.

He said that PSPCL has provided 8 hours uninterrupted supply in all three time groups to agriculture consumers   in all distribution zones as below on 24th June, 2021:

He also added that besides the scheduled 8 hours supply, additional supply of around 5.30 hours was provided yesterday as compensation for the power affected due to outages and in general, instructions have been imparted to the field offices for compensating the power supply affected due to outages.

Keeping in view of the more frequency of consumers on 1912  for redressal of  their power related issues , PSPCL’s continuous endeavour to improve its services, PSPCL has  expanded its customer services call centre at Janta Nagar on June 23,2021 by increasing the total number of lines from 40 to 60 at ₹31 Lacs expenditure. This, in addition to the 60 lines at Chaura Bazar call centre, has taken the total capacity of the ‘1912’ call centre to 120 lines .Besides 1912, consumers can also register complaints by giving a missed call on toll-free number 1800-180-1512, or by sending SMS “no supply” on 1912 or through the PSPCL mobile app or by sending a message on WhatsApp at 96461-06835, or on Facebook at fb.com/PSPCLPb, or on Twitter at twitter.com/PSPCLPb or a mail at [email protected].

He said that valuable consumers can also directly contact zonal control rooms in order to update the status of   power supply position and to redress complaints of the  consumers  special control rooms are being setup  at the zonal levels.
