Anahita Thapar student of Sat Paul Mittal School Ludhiana brought laurels

Anahita Thapar, a student of Sat Paul Mittal School, Ludhiana has secured 2nd Rank in the National Level of Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan i.e. VVM 2020-21, where she represented the state of Punjab and Chandigarh.

Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan (VVM) is an initiative of Vijnana Bharati (VIBHA), in collaboration with Vigyan Prasar, an autonomous organization under the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India and National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), an institution under the Ministry Education (earlier known as Ministry of Human Resources and Development). VVM is a national program for popularizing science among school students of standard VI to XI, conceptualised to identify the bright minds with a scientific aptitude among the student community.

In the first round, held in November 2020, Anahita stood second in Ludhiana District and got selected for the subsequent state level exam. Here, she proved her mettle by attaining the first position in the state for the category of class 6. By doing so, she won a cash prize of rupees 5000/- and also qualified for the National Level Camp.

The National Level Camp, held on 30th May, 2021 witnessed a cut-throat competition amongst the participants which included toppers from all the states and union territories of India. The participants were evaluated through Multiple Choice Questions, Experiment Based Innovative Thinking and an Online Personalized Interaction / Interview conducted by renowned scientists. This provided for an ideal platform for Anahita to exhibit her out of the box thinking and logical skills in the field of science and research.

She successfully attained 2nd Position in the National Level and was the only student from the state of Punjab and Chandigarh amongst the National toppers. For her excellent achievement at the national level she was awarded a cash prize of Rs 15000 along with a merit certificate. The felicitation ceremony for announcement of the winners was held online. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Prof. Abhay Karandikar, Director IIT, Kanpur. The other eminent dignitaries included Prof Sridhar Shrivastav, Director, N.C.E.R.T. and Dr. Biswajit Saha, Director C.B.S.E. in addition to the organizing team of VVM. It was a prestigious moment for the winners as they were invited by the Director IIT Kanpur to visit the campus, once the pandemic situation eased out.
