Alka Lamba to appear before Rupnagar police on Wednesday; Cong to hold protest

Congress leader Alka Lamba,who has been summoned by the Rupnagar police in connection with case registered against poet and one of the founder members of Aam Aadmi Party(AAP) Kumar Vishwas  at Rupnagar Sadar police station on the compleaint of AAP youth wing Rupnagar district vice president Narinder Singh for making provocative  statements against  AAP convener and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on April 12 .

The case has  been registered under section 153, 153-A, 505, 505 (2) , 116 read with section  143, 147, 323, 341, 120-B of Indian Penal Code and  section 125 of Representation of Peoples Act .Congress leader Alka Lamba has also been named an accused in the case.

Punjab Police had served notice to Kumar Vishwas at his Gazhiabad(UP) residence and to Alka Lamba at his Delhi residence on April  20 asking them to appear before  Special Investigating Team(SIT) on April 26 to produce whatever evidence they had to support their allegations..

The date of appearance,  however was later changed to April 27.

In a video statement on Tuesday Alka Lamba alleged that the date has been changed at the behest of Delhi chief  minister  and his stooge, who is Rajya Sabha member and reside in the residence of Punjab chief minister.

Lamba said that she had already arrived in Punjab on April 25 and would appear before police at Rupnagar Sadar Police station on April 27.

Lamba  said that she was not afraid of such tactics of  revenge and would face the law of the land as she respects the law. She said that the Delhi chief minister had dragged the fight of Delhi and a woman of Delhi to Punjab ,which would cost him dearly adding that she still stood by her statements..

Meanwhile, Punjab Congress, Youth Congress has planned a protest demonstration near the office of Senior superintendent of Police (SSP) against the police action against Alka Lamba.

Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring,Leader of opposition in Punjab assembly Partap Singh Bajwa, Punjab Youth Congress president Barinder Singh Dhillon and other leaders of the state Congress would participate in the protest.

Meanwhile, Kumar Vishwas has moved Punjab and Haryana High Court seeking the quashing of FIR registered against him.
