State level bicycle rally organised at Rupnagar

On the occasion of World Bicycle Day, Nehru Yuva Kendra , in association with the district administration organised a state level bicycle rally at Rupnagar on Friday.
The rally was flagged off by Rupnagar Deputy Commissioner Dr. Preeti Yadav.. About 500 young boys and girls from Rupnagar Peddlers and Runners Association, Cycling Association Anandpur Sahib and Nurpur Bedi Cyclists Association and various departments, youth clubs from different blocks participated in the cycle rally.
The rally passed through Maharaja Ranjit Singh Bagh, Bela Chowk from Rupnagar Bypass and concluded back at Maharaja Ranjit Singh Bagh. At the end of the rally Rupnagar MLA Dinesh Chadha and Deputy Commissioner Dr. Preeti Yadav distributed certificates to the participants.
Speaking on the occasion Dinesh Chadha aid that Rupnagar had earned a good reputation in the field of cycling and the Punjab Government would continue its efforts to promote cycling in future also.
Deputy Commissioner Dr. Preeti Yadav urged the people of the district to take care of their health and fitness. “We should all cyclists to maintain their fitness and especially women should exercise daily for their health,” she said.
In this cycle rally SDM Jasveer Singh, DRO Rupnagar Gurjinder Singh, District Public Relations Officer Karan Mehta, District Sports Officer Rupnagar Rupesh Kumar, Municipal Council Rupnagar Executive Officer Bhajan Chand, Ms. Santosh, District Youth Coordinator Nehru YUva Kendra. Pankaj Yadav. Mantej Singh Cheema,. Shiv Kumar Saini Cycling Association Ropar, Arvinder Singh Raju, Sahil , national youth awardee Yogesh Mohan Pankaj, NSS volunteers , NCC cadets and students of government college Rupnagar ,.under the patronage of Principal Gurpreet Kaur and led by Prof. Harjit Singh, Prof. Harmandeep Kaur, Prof. Shaminder Kaur, Prof. Nirmal Singh Government College Ropar under the leadership of Ravneet Kaur, Prof. Jagjit Singh participated in the rally.
