Protocol violations-No chairs for MLAs; kept standing in a function organized by NSNIS

In the function got up to honour Commonwealth games gold medalist Mira Bai Channu on August 6,2022 ,at the Sports Authority of India’s Netaji Subash National Institute of sports (NSNIS) , Patiala, the sports institute administration fails to give respect to the elected representatives, as per protocol.
Commonwealth Games gold medalist Mira Bai Chanu and the entire Indian weightlifting contingent received a warm welcome at Amritsar Airport on Saturday morning after their return to India from England’s Birmingham.
In the afternoon they reached Patiala’s NSNIS where they are training on regular basis.
MLA Ghanour Gurlal Singh and MLA Sanour Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra representing the state government, local district administration led by additional deputy commissioner (general) Gurpreet Singh Thind along with NSNIS administration led by Sr Executive Director Col. Raj Singh Bishnoi welcomed the winners of Commonwealth Games at NSNIS campus.
As per available information, in the starting of the ceremony, the NSNIS administration failed to give a seat to both the elected public representatives MLA Ghanour Gurlal Singh and MLA Sanour Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra, representing the Punjab government on the dias along with the commonwealth games winner, NSNIS Sr Executive Director and coaches. Even the ADC Patiala representing the district administration were kept standing.
To capture the memorable moments, the MLAs were kept stand behind the Mira Bai Channu, NSNIS Sr Executive Director Col. Raj Singh Bishnoi, coaches and other NIS staff, violating the protocol norms laid in the guidelines by the government. As per protocol, the organizer are supposed to ensure ‘proper and comfortable seating’ at such functions.
As per available information, even the officer who representing the district administration had also left the venue midway as he had also not given the seat.

When contacted MLA Sanour Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra, he said “we went there to congratulate the winners, sports persons, coaches who brought laurels for the country. We ourselves decided to stand backside them as the photographer was unable to click the photo, as with so many seats on the dias, it got widen.”
