Section 144 imposed, more than 5 can’t gather in Patiala

Additional deputy magistrate (General) Patiala, Gurpreet Singh Thind has issued an order of imposing section 144 in district Patiala. Now, more than 5 persons can’t gather in Patiala. Orders have been issued prohibiting any kind of demonstrations/protests, rallies, meetings, raising slogans, gathering of five or more people.
The order, enforced by the Additional District Magistrate till October 4, 2022, will not apply to gatherings of security personnel, police personnel on duty and government programmes, weddings and funerals.
As per the order’s “to maintain the law and order situation in the state and to maintain public interest and peace, it becomes necessary that five or more people gather, hold meetings, raise slogans, demonstrate within the limits of district Patiala. There is a fear of disturbance of peace, damage to government and non-government properties etc. Therefore, it is necessary to take appropriate steps to maintain law and order and protect people’s lives and property.”
