Girls hostel entry issue,Pbi Uni Non teaching staff support authorities

Punjabi University’s non-teaching staff, led by Avtar Singh, President of the University’s non-teaching staff ad hoc committee, came heavily support of the University authorities while strongly criticizing the demand of the Democratic Students Union-led protest demanding round-the-clock entry of the girl students in their hostels.
They assured the Vice-Chancellor of every support in evolving a congenial atmosphere on the University Campus and requested him to take all the stakeholders in to confidence before taking any decision in this regard.
Avtar Singh strongly condemned the attack by certain officials of the sports department in the office of the Finance Officer. They also highlighted some of their demands for the smooth functioning’s, especially of the examination and accounts branches.
While thanking the committee for their whole-hearted support, the Vice-Chancellor, Dr. B.S. Ghuman said that full safety measures would be taken to avoid the recurrence of such kind of pugnacious incidents, even as the Wednesday’s unwarranted event happened all of a sudden. Responding to the demands and facilities raised by the staff, he assured them that these would be met on priority basis to their satisfaction.
Dean Academic Affairs , Dr. G.S. Batra said that the code of conduct for the examination branch and the fee schedule for different facilities would soon be displayed for everybody’s notice. Registrar, Dr. M.S. Nijjer said that the files of promotion of different categories of staff have been moved for the rapid action.
