Patiala police arrests Hindu right wing leader for promoting enmity

Patiala police today morning arrested Hindu right wing leader Harish Singla for promoting enmity, intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace.

SHO Kotwali Patiala, Inspector Sukhwinder Singh Gill said, “a FIR number 141 is registered against Harish Singla under section 153-A (Promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc.) , 504 (Whoever intentionally insults, and thereby gives provocation to any person, intending or knowing it to be likely that such provocation will cause him to break the public peace) IPC for disturbing the peace in the city. He was arrested today morning from his house and has been presented before the court.”

As per available information, Harish Singla has posted a inflammatory post on his social media account.

He was also arrested in April 2022 for disturbing peace in the city as a clash goes off between two religious communities. He was later arrested and remained in jail for around two months.

At that time also Patiala police had booked Harish Singla under section 353 (Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 186 (Whoever voluntarily obstructs any public servant in the discharge of his public functions) ,188 (Disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) ,153-A (who indulge in wanton vilification or attacks upon the religion, race, place of birth, residence, language etc of any particular group or class or upon the founders and prophets of a religion) , 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation) , 148 (Rioting, armed with deadly weapon) , 149 (Every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object) , 120-B (a criminal conspiracy to commit an offence) at Kotwali Police Station on April 29,2022.
