World University starts off Grand Celebrations of Gurpurab

Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib has started celebrating in earnest the upcoming birth anniversary of the first Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. In this regard the Varsity has come up with a unique idea of celebrating the spirit of Guru Nanak in grand fashion and various festivities spreading over 4 days have been kicked off. The University organised a blood donation camp in association with Blood Bank, Government Rajindra Hospital, Patiala. The University also organised a special seminar on the compositions and hymns of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The blood donation camp was inaugurated by SGPC President and University Chancellor Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar. Prof. Badungar also graced the seminar in the capacity of the chief guest. The SGPC President praised the University for celebrating the Gurpurab of the first Sikh Guru on such a grand scale. Prof. Badungar said Guru Nanak Dev’s philosophy of ‘Naam Japo, Kirat Karo and Vandh Chakko’ should be communicated to the farthest corners of the globe. He hoped that the University will continue to organise such constructive programs in the future as well.

Vice Chancellor of the University, Dr. Sukhdarshan Singh Khehra told that the activities have been organised under the guidance and vision of University Chancellor Prof. Badungar and the University has ensured the students take active part in the celebrations. In the seminar, research scholars of Guru Granth Sahib Religious studies department of the University Dr. Palvinder Kaur, Dr. Joginder Singh, Harjeet Singh and Aman singh presented papers on the life and teachings of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji.  He added that in the blood donation camp organised in the morning, 100 units of blood were collected. The Vice Chancellor told that 3-day cleanliness drive in and around the University campus by the students and staff of the University is also underway from today.

It is worth mentioning here that the University will also be organising a two day free homeopathy and physiotherapy camp along with book exhibition from tomorrow during the Grand Celebrations of Gurpurab. At the end of the seminar, Sri Guru Granth Sahib Fourth Centenary memorial trust, member secretary, Darbara Singh Guru presented the vote of thanks.
