Gurpurab festivities conclude at World University

Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib concluded its mega celebrations to mark Guru Nanak Dev’s birth anniversary with the bhog of Sri Sehaj Path. The students and staff members of the University came together and recited hymns in the praise of the almighty from Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Vice Chancellor of the University, Dr. Sukhdarshan Singh Khehra wished every member of the University, a successful and prosperous future and said that although Guru Nanak Dev’s Gurpurab is a day to celebrate and enjoy, we must introspect and ask ourselves that how much of Guru Nanak’s principles and teachings we have adopted in our lives. The Vice Chancellor motivated the students to imbibe in themselves the teachings and message of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Also present on the occasion, Member Secretary of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Fourth Centenary Memorial Trust, Darbara Singh Guru praised the efforts of the University in celebrating the birth anniversary of the first Sikh guru on such a grand scale. He hoped that the University will continue to organise such activities in the future as well.

Guru Nanak Gurpurab festivities conclude at World University

During the Guru Nanak Gurpurab festivities concluding day  Dr. Hardev Singh from University’s Department of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Religious Studies delivered a special lecture on the life, teachings and philosophy of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The students of University also recited poems in the praise of the almighty. The University’s Nora Richards Theatre Club enacted a ‘Nukaad Natak” on the theme on eve teasing, female foeticide and gender discrimination. The street play enacted by the students held a mirror to the society, questioning how we have forgotten Guru Nanak’s message of women equality and empowerment. In the end, the students performed the Sikh martial art “Gatka” and enthralled one and all.
