Orientation Programme for MA Ist year in Human Rights and Duties held at PU

Centre for Human Rights and Duties, Panjab University, Chandigarh held its Orientation Session on 21 August, officially inducting its new Masters batch enrolled for the Academic session 2024-26.

Prof. Namita Gupta, Chairperson, Centre for Human Rights and Duties gave a holistic introduction of the Centre’s academic curriculum via a PowerPoint presentation reflecting best practices on field highlighting the versatile achievements of the department since its humble inception in 2007, up to enrolling of doctoral and post-doctoral degrees today. Dr.Upneet Kaur Mangat, faculty at the Centre, shared her experiences of launching the para-legal clinic at the Centre and the importance of effectuating legal rights by social sciences disciplines.

The session was anchored by Guest faculty, Dr. Kanika Sharma who moderated an ice-breaking session engaging, M.A 2nd year students and the Centre’s vibrant group of research scholars who shared their experiences and imperative department insights.

Harbhajan Singh, Cabinet Minister, Punjab also attended the program.He wittingly remarked that heis in the orientation program in his capacity as a fellow scholar, being enrolled at the Centre for his doctoral degree. He also lauded the small but robust department for its academic discipline and further motivated the students to optimise their time and potential during their two year degree course.
