BJP’s seems to have two set of rules on party Lok Sabha MP Kangana Ranaut. On August 25,2024 she upload a part of her interview on her twitter account having controversial statement. On the first set of rules, after the furor by opposition parties, on August 26,2024 saffron party distanced itself from recent statements made by actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut regarding the farmers’ movement. Whereas on the second set of rule, nobody seems to have asked her to remove the controversial interview clip which she reposted, from her twitter account.
Despite her today meeting with the party’s national president J P Nadda at his residence, she didn’t remove the controversial clip from her account. Even after so many days her controversial clip is still on her twitter account.
As per reports, earlier Kangana had admitted that she was reprimanded by the BJP, over her remarks on the farmer’s protest, and said, “She is looking forward to being more careful with her words and aligning to the party’s policies.” Despite this she didn’t remove the controversial clip from her X account
When contacted Punjab BJP Mahila Morcha president Jai Inder Kaur, she said “let me check it with the party head office. If the tweet is still showing on her twitter account, than it’s not a good thing.”
When contacted BJP chief spokesperson Anil Baluni, he said “as I am driving now please send the whatsapp message what do you want to know. After sending the message , he read it. When contacted later he didn’t pick up the phone nor responded on whatsapp message.”
When asked RP Singh, BJP spokesperson about the intention of BJP on this issue as on one side the party is disassociating from her statement on farmers and on the other hand her interview clip is still on her twitter account, he said “ let me check and I’ll get back to you.” Like other leaders he also goes incommunicado and not responded to phone calls.
When contacted BJP spokesperson Jaiveer Shergill he had said “ I’am in court. I’ll first check it and then I’ll comment on this. When contacted later, his phone attendant said, he is busy right now. Leave the message, he will call you. But he too didn’t call back.
The interesting answer came from senior Punjab congress leader Partap Singh Bajwa on this issue. When contacted, he said “I have nothing to do with Kangana Ranaut and disconnected the phone call.”
On August 25, 2024,Kangana Ranaut, a first time BJP member parliament, who represents Mandi in the Lok Sabha, sparked controversy by suggesting that the farmers’ protests could have resulted in a Bangladesh-like situation if not for strong leadership.
After the protest by opposition leaders, farmers the saffron party keeping in mind the Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections, on August 26,2024 distanced itself from recent statements made by actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut regarding the farmers’ movement.
Meanwhile when we had contacted BJP’s national general secretary Tarun Chugh, the person who responded the call said “he is not going to say anything on this issue.”
When contacted BKU leader Jagjeet Singh Dallewal he had said “the double standard of BJP has come to fore. On one side the party had given statement about distancing itself from her but at the same time they didn’t ask her to remove the controversial content even after so many hours. She is forwarding the ideology of BJP. That’s why she has given anti-farmers statement. Farmers are more patriotic than her. Rather she is breaking the country by her sinful statements. The BJP party not only expels her but book her for anti-national statements, activities.”
On this shiromani akali dal spokesperson Arshdeep Singh Kler had said “she has gone mad. These shameful anti-farmer statements are a gross insult to the farmers of the entire country which cannot be accepted under any circumstances. The BJP must expel her from the party.”
In an interview clip, the actor-turned-politician’s account on X shared a video clip of her comments uploaded by another social media user. She was saying “What happened in Bangladesh would not have taken time to happen in India if our top leadership had not been strong. In the farmers’ protest here, dead bodies were hanging and rapes were being committed. When those laws in favour of farmers were taken back, the whole country was shocked. Those farmers are still sitting there. They never thought the laws would be repealed. There was a long planning, just like in Bangladesh. Such was the conspiracy … China, America, these kinds of foreign powers are working here”
