Short Term Course on “Environmental Issues and Disaster Management” starts at Punjabi University’s MMTT Centre

Under the Dynamic leadership of Vice Chancellor Kamal Kishore Yadav, UGC-Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC) Punjabi University, Patiala started a 6-day Short Term Course on “Environmental Issues and Disaster Management”.
The purpose of this Short-Term Course is to make participants aware of environmental issues and disaster management. This shall help them to understand the causes, effects, and risks of disasters, and how to reduce their impact. This knowledge can help us prepare for and respond to disasters, and build resilience to them. Prof. Raman Maini, Director of the UGC-Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre, Punjabi University, Patiala, stated that the programme, organized under the guidelines of the UGC-MHRD, will be conducted online from September 24 to October 1, 2024.
Prof. Maini welcome the chief guest of the day Dr Adarsh Pal Vig, Chairman of the Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) and a professor in the department of botanical and environmental sciences at Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), Amritsar. He thanked Course Coordinator Dr Onkar Singh, Associate Professor, Department of Zoology and Environment Sciences for his efforts in inviting Internationally renowned resource persons for the course
The chief guest of the day Dr Adarsh Pal Vig, Chairman of the Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) emphasized that One should own the responsibility to preserve the ecosystem . He said all developmental projects should first focus on Environment issues and other factors should be taken care later on.He discussed various Natural and Man-made Disasters. He appreciated the efforts of Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre, Punjabi University, Patiala for organising this Programme.
