A large convention was organized by the General category Welfare Federation   (PSPCL/PSTCL unit) the General category Welfare Federation (GCWF) at Patiala  to celebrate the 117th  birthday of Shaheed Bhaghat Singh.

Chetan Singh Jourmajra former minister was the chief guest and various leaders of Aam Aadmi Party and Shyam Lal Sharma Chief organizer ,Gurdeep Singh Tiwana,Kanchan Kumar, Balbir Singh Phulgana and a large number of employees, farmers, businessmen , and students participated in large numbers. Chetan Singh Jormajra shared his valuable thoughts on Bhagat Singh in detail with the audience. He assured general category problems will be brought to the notice of chief minister and try to solve them at the earliest.

Federation president Kuljeet Singh Rattol detailed the sacrifices of Bhagat Singh and asked the audience to follow them.

Sukhpreet Singh and Hargurmeet Singh said that the previous government had set up the General Category welfare Commission in 2021 , but present government has not posted chairman of commission and supporting staff .The delay in filling the posts leads to that none is there to listen to general category problems. Discrimination against general categories must be stopped.

The government should follow the Supreme Court judgment regarding to stop reservation benefits to the creamy layer and implement it in the state. In recruitment general category candidates from Punjab are not getting their due in  posts as outsiders grab a number of posts, said Jaswant Singh Dhaliwal federation leader and  V K Gupta Spokesperson.
