Punjab cadre IAS officer goes on deputation; appointed as Commissioner, MC, Chandigarh

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Home Affairs for of the Ministry of Home Affairs for the appointment of Amit Kumar, IAS (PB-2008) to the post of the Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, UT of Chandigarh on Inter-Cadre deputation from Punjab Cadre to AGMUT Cadre, for a period of three years or until further orders, whichever is earlier.”
The appointment came after around 45 days that fell vacant on August 22. Earlier Punjab cadre IAS Anandita Mitra remained as MC Chief for three years.
Also, the order came twenty days after former MC Commissioner Anandita Mitra was given a three-month extension as the MC Commissioner. Mitra, however, got the extension a month after she was relieved of her responsibilities and was given farewell and she had joined her new assignment in Punjab.
Earlier, the Punjab government had sent a panel of three IAS officers namely Amit Kumar, Ramvir, Girish Dayalan to the UT administration for the post of municipal corporation commissioner that fell vacant on August 22.
At that time Amit Kumar was posted as director of rural development, Punjab; Ramvir was secretary, Technical Education Board, Punjab; and Girish Dayalan was managing director of Markfed and CEO of Punjab e-Governance.
