AAP MLA Dr Balbir Singh,three others sentenced to three years imprisonment in a criminal case

A local court has sentenced Aam Aadmi Party(AAP) MLA from Pariala (rural) Dr Balbir Singh Saini to three years imprisonment for causing hurt to his sister in-law and her husband over land dispute.
Dr.Balbir Singh and his wife had a dispute with his sister-in-law(wife’s sister) Paramjit Kaur and her husband Wing Commander(retd) Mewa Singh
regarding land situated at village Tapprian Dyal Singh falling under Chamkaur Sahib police station of Rupnagar district.
It was alleged that on June 13,2011 Balbir Singh along with other accused attacked Paramjit Kaur and Mewa Singh with weapons when they were irrigating the agricultural fields at village Tapprian Dyal Singh as a result of which Paramjit Kaur and Mewa Singh sustained injuries.Police had registered a case under section 323,324,325,506,148,149,34 of Indian Penal Code at Chamkaur Sahib police station in this regard.
On the other hand Balbir Singh got registered a cross case alleging attack on him against Parmajit Kaur and Mewa Singh.
After completion of the trial of the case,Court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Rupnagar Ravi Inder Singh sentenced Balbir Singh,his wife Rupinderjit Saini,son Rahul Saini and one Parminder Singh to one year imprisonment and .imposed a fine of Rs 1000 under section 323 of IPC, Three years imprisonment each and imposed fine of Rs. 5000 each under section 324,325,506/34 of IPC .
The court .however, acquitted Parmajit Kaur and Mewa Singh in the case registered against them.
After pronouncing the sentence the court granted bail to Dr.Balbir Singh and other accused.
AAP MLA Dr Balbir Singh,three others sentenced to three years imprisonment in a criminal case. Later on,talking to media persons Dr.Balbir Singh said that they were falsely implicated in the case while the other party had attacked them.However, he would accept the court verdict with all humility and would file an appeal against the judgment of the lower court and they were hopeful of getting justice in the case.
