AAP Punjab gets new Punjab President; CM Mann announces his replacement

Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and prominent Hindu face of the party Aman Arora has been named as the new president of the party’s Punjab unit, replacing Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on the post.
The announcement of Arora’s elevation as the state party chief was made by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann himself. The final decision was taken at a meeting of the AAP Parliamentary Affairs Committee in Delhi on Friday. The party has also appointed Batala MLA Amansher Singh Shery Kalsi as the vice president.
Aman Arora is a two-time MLA from Sunam and had won the 2022 Punjab Assembly elections with the highest margin.

ਅੱਜ ਮੈਂ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਦੋ ਕਰੀਬੀ ਸਾਥੀ ਕੈਬਿਨੇਟ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਅਮਨ ਅਰੋੜਾ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਧਾਇਕ ਅਮਨਸ਼ੇਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਸ਼ੈਰੀ ਕਲਸੀ ਨੂੰ ਸੌਂਪ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ। ਪਾਰਟੀ ਨੇ ਫ਼ੈਸਲਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਅਮਨ ਅਰੋੜਾ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ੈਰੀ ਕਲਸੀ ਵਰਕਿੰਗ ਪ੍ਰੈਜ਼ੀਡੈਂਟ ਦੇ ਤੌਰ ‘ਤੇ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨਗੇ। ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਦੋਵਾਂ ਸਾਥੀਆਂ ‘ਤੇ ਪੂਰਾ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਮੇਂ ‘ਚ ਪਾਰਟੀ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਗਠਨ ਨੂੰ ਪੰਜਾਬ ‘ਚ ਹੋਰ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਕਰਨਗੇ ਤੇ ਨਵੀਆਂ ਬੁਲੰਦੀਆਂ ‘ਤੇ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਜਾਣਗੇ।
AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal extended his heartfelt congratulations to Aman Arora and Amansher Singh Sherry Kalsi on their appointments as Punjab Party President and Working President, respectively. Kejriwal expressed confidence in their leadership, highlighting their proven dedication and ability to strengthen the party’s organizational structure in Punjab. “I am confident that Aman Arora and Sherry Kalsi will work tirelessly to address the issues of the people and take the party to greater heights,” he stated, wishing them success in their new responsibilities.
Arora is presently a cabinet minister in Bhagwant Mann led AAP government and holds the charge of New and Renewable Energy department. He is replacing incumbent party president and chief minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, who is holding this post since 2019.

Mann had recently expressed his desire to step down as the party president, citing his preoccupation with his duties as the Chief Minister of Punjab.
The appointment of Aman Arora and Amansher Singh Shery Kalsi came a day after the by-elections to the four Punjab Assembly seats were held Thursday.
