AIPEF demand restoration of old pension for the power sector employees

All India Power Engineer Federation (AIPEF) in a letter to the Union Finance Minister has demanded that a uniform old pension system be implemented for all power sector employees and engineers .
Shailendra Dubey, Chairman AIPEF said that the federation has written in a letter to the Union Finance Minister that after the unbundling of the state electricity board, the old pension system for the power employees and engineers recruited in the newly formed energy corporations was abolished unilaterally. The letter mentions that there is no mention anywhere in the Electricity Act 2003 that the old pension will not be given to the power sector employees recruited after the unbundling of the Electricity Board. There is no uniformity in the power corporations of the states. At some places EPF is applicable, at some places CPF is applicable and at some places NPS is applicable.
Dubey stated that Governments of Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand have implemented the old pension system for all the employees and engineers working in energy corporations. Thus there is no uniformity in this matter among energy corporations in different states. Old pension is applicable in three provinces and CPF, EPF or NPS is applicable in other separate provinces.
AIPEF demand restoration of old pension for the power sector employees as it is learnt that the Central Government is going to make changes in the pension system for the central employees working under NPS. In such a situation, if a uniform system is not implemented among the employees working in the power corporations of the states, big discrepancies will arise.
V K Gupta spokesperson AIPEF said that in order to bring uniformity in all the power corporations of the country, it is necessary that the Central Government should issue instructions to all the states that for the power employees & engineers working in the power corporations in all the states, the same old pension system should be implemented.
