Power sector employees and engineers across the country observed anti – privatisation day with a slogan “Save power sector Save India” and demanded to withdraw all privatization attempts including electricity amendment bill 2022, All India Power Engineers Federation (AIPEF) said on Wednesday. On the call of the National Coordination Committee of Electricity Employees and Engineers(NCCOEEE)power sector  electricity employees and engineers across the country demonstrated vigorously at power utility headquarters, said V K Gupta Spokesperson AIPEF.

Shalindera Dubey Chairman AIPEF said that electricity amendment bill 2022 only aim is to privatise the power sector completely and to end all subsidies to power consumers, which would affect commoners especially farmers and the downtrodden. He said that massive demonstrations were held today throughout Andhra Pradesh. The employees and engineers are going to strike from August 10.

V K Gupta spokesperson V K Gupta said that quest for profit and greater commercial orientation seem to be the only aim of the central government. He said that on Wednesday protests were held at Hyderabad,  Vijayawada, Guwahati. Lucknow, Hissar, Panchkula , Patiala , Chennai, Trivandrum, Bangalore, Dehradun, Shimla, Jammu, Srinagar. And other cities..

Shailendra Dubey, Chairman AIPEF said that the protest meetings opposed the victimisation of UP Power Employees and Engineers after betraying the agreement  made on 19th March, 2023. He said that   124 employees were suspended and 2400 contractual workers were removed from their jobs.

V K Gupta spokesperson AIPEF informed that  on 19th March 2023 during the strike, the UP Power Minister requested the unions to call off the Strike with specific commitment that all related matters of 3rd December,2022 settlement will be honoured. In Andhra Pradesh massive demonstrations were held across the state prior to the indefinite strike.
