Akali dal star campaigner joins BJP; saffron party ticket aspirants, congress’s absent leader amongst star campaigners

In a setback to shiromani akali dal, its general secretary and one of the star campaigner Ravi Karan Singh Kahlon has joined the saffron party.

Around a week ago the party has given the star campaigner list to the election commission of India. On May 15, 2024 shiromani akali dal has expelled Ravi Karan Singh Kahlon for his anti party activities and today on May 16,2024 he joined BJP.

To, lure voters, all national, regional parties has released their star campaigner list to do campaigning for their party candidates.

In congress star campaigner list, cricketer-turned politician Navjot Singh Sidhu has found his name. Presently the fire brand leader is doing commentary in the ongoing IPL cricket matches. The IPL final is played on May 26,2024 and the campaigning in Punjab is going to end on May 30,2024.  He is not expected to campaign for any of the party candidate in or outside Punjab.

In AAP’s list, Manish Sisodia, Satyendra Jain, Raghav Chadha along with other leaders of the party has found their place as star campaigner. Sisodia, Jain are in jail and Chadha is out of India. The party has seven Rajya Sabha MPs from Punjab. No MP is included in the star campaigner list.

In BJP’s list many of its core leaders who remained ticket aspirants or are presently lying low in these elections due to other party leaders joined saffron party, has at least found place in the star campaigner list. Even Capt Amarinder Singh is included in the star campaigner list. Recently, he fails to turn up to accompany her wife Preneet Kaur and party candidate from Patiala to file nomination papers.

In the last phase, Punjab to go to the polls in a single phase on June 1, as many as 2,14,61,739 voters will decide the electoral fate of candidates embroiled in a keenly watched contest for the 13 Lok Sabha seats in the State.
