Annual Prize Distribution Function held at Modi College

Annual Prize Distribution Function was held at Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala today to felicitate achievers in Academics, Sports and Co-curricular activities. A. S. Rai, IPS, IGP, Patiala presided over the function. Sanjeev Sharma, Mayor, Municipal Corporation, Patiala was the Guest of Honour.

Saraswati Vandana and Shabad Gayan were presented by the students of the college at the start of the function. The Chief Guest distributed the Roll of Honour, College Colour and Merit Certificates to the winners. He congratulated the winners and said that such achievements at college level are like motivational milestones which prepare the students for bigger challenges and struggles of life. He also urged the students to volunteer for Anti-Drug Campaign, recently launched by Punjab Police in the state.

Sanjeev Sharma, Mayor, Municipal Corporation, Patiala congratulated the college for such glorious achievements in different fields.Col. N. S. Kang, Commandant, 5Pb Bn., NCC, Patiala and alumnus of the college attended the function as a special invitee.

College Principal Dr. Khushvinder Kumar welcomed the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour and other dignitaries. He congratulated the prize winners and presented the Annual Report of the College for session 2017-18, where all academic and other achievements were highlighted. Dr. Ajit Kumar, Registrar of the College told that 73 Rolls of Honour, 270 College Colours, 383 Merit Certificates and 10 special achiever prizes were awarded to the students including three Gold Medals in Punjabi University Examinations.

Rolls of Honour were awarded for achievements in Academics to Reena (First position in University in MSc – Pharmaceutical Chemistry), Gurveen Kaur (First position in University in BSc – Fashion Design), Vandana Sharma (Second position in University in MSc – Food and Nutrition), Kamaljeet Kaur (First position in BSc (Bioinformatics)), Jyoti Bala (Second position in University in MSc – Pharmaceutical Chemistry), Harjit Kaur (Second position in University in MSc – Fashion Design and Technology), Monika Parashar (Third position in University in MSc – Pharmaceutical Chemistry), Narpinder Kaur (Third position in University in MSc – Biotechnology), Gurpreet Kaur (Second position in University in BSc – Fashion Design), Chandni Jain (Third position in BCom).

Roll of Honour were awarded to Naman Kapil, BA-I for winning 2 Silver Medals in Track Cycling at Asian Cup held at New Delhi, Sonali Chanu, BA-I for Silver Medals in Track Cycling at Asian Cup held at New Delhi, Ajay Kumar, BA-II for Silver Medal in Taekwondo at SAF Games held at Nepal, Mandeep Kaur, BA-II for Bronze Medal in 35th International Golden Gloves Boxing Tournament held at Serbia (Russia). Rajbeer Singh (Asian Track Cycling Championship at Malaysia), Reyal Puri (Simonterstin Memorial Boxing Tournament at Ukrain), Sachin Singh Rawat (Asian Judo Championship at Kazakistan), Inderjeet Verma (World University Games in Archery (Recurve) at Tiepei (Tiwan)), Jyotika Dutta (Fencing (Foil) World University Games at Teipei (Tiwan)), Gurjatinder Singh (World Archery Championship at Argentina), Manpreet Singh (Fencing World Cup at Germany) participated in International Sports meets. Besides this Prizes were also distributed to sports persons who won 79 Gold Medals, 37 Silver Medals and 45 Bronze Medals at various National and Inter-University Level Competitions. Their coaches were also felicitated on the occasion.

Vipul Batra was honoured for getting admission in Ph.D. at Miami University, USA and Sabeena for getting admission in M.Phil. at Aukland University of Technology, New Zealand.

College students presented co-curricular items including Singing, Giddha and Flute playing etc. during the function.
