On the orders of state government, Anirudh Tewari replaces Vini Mahajan as the new chief secretary of Punjab
Anirudh Tewari is the 1990 batch of IAS officer. Presently he is Additional Chief Secretary-cum-Financial Commissioner, Development and in addition Additional Chief Secretary, Food Processing and in addition Additional Chief Secretary, Horticulture and in addition Additional Chief Secretary, Governance Reforms & Public Grievances.
He superseded Arun Goel (1987) , Ravneet Kaur , Sanjay Kumar ((1988 batch), VK Janjua ,Kirpa Shankar saroj (all 1989 batch).
Punjab gets its new chief secretary; new CS superseded senior IAS officers. Due to his elevation as chief secretary,as IAS officers who were senior to him Vini Mahajan, Ravneet kaur, Sanjay Kumar, VK janjua, Kirpa Shankar Saroj were designated as Special Chief Secretary.
Tewari holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology, Patiala, Master’s Degree in Economics from Panjab University and Master’s Degree in International Development Policy from Duke University.
He has wide policy experience of working at the state and national level, with more than 30 years in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS). Within the State Government of Punjab, Tewari’s most recent roles have included Pincipal Secretary in the Department of Finance, Principal Secretary in the Department of Industries & Commerce and CEO of Punjab Bureau of Investment Promotion. For three years he also served as the Country Coordinator for IFAD India, during which he assisted the Country Program Manager in developing strategies for IFAD’s collaboration with the Government of India and designed programmes that led to poverty reduction. At the national level, Tewari has served as Director of Fund Bank and Director of Foreign Trade in the Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance as well as Deputy Secretary in the Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance.
