Late night blast in Amritsar’s Heritage street creates panic; Police say it’s not an explosion

As per initial reports, some people were injured after a blast took place in the Heritage Street in Amritsar on Saturday night. Panic gripped locals as a loud explosion was heard late Saturday night.
The windows of a nearby restaurant were also damaged due to the impact of the blast. The glass of the windows spread all around at Saragarhi parking. Even the glass hit some person, due to which they were injured.
Soon after receiving information, a police team reached the spot and started investigation. After initial investigation, the police found that it was an accident and no one needs to get panic. Today morning the forensic team will also investigate the spot and to determine the cause of the blast, which was reported near a restaurant.
A police official said that the ‘blast’ apparently occurred in a chimney of a restaurant at the Heritage Street. He said further investigations were under way.
As per eye witnesses , there was a loud explosion. People started seeing the blast mixed with a terrorist attack, but after some time in the investigation, the police made it clear that it was not an attack, it was an accident. Had there been an explosion, the building would have been damaged, only the glass would not have been broken. The cold weather outside and humidity inside the parking lot can also cause the glass to shatter.
