The Department of Community and Family Medicine at All India Institute of Medical Sciences Bathinda organized an awareness session on organ donation for Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) and ASHA Supervisors on July 20, 2024.

The session, held in collaboration with the Senior Medical Officer of the Community Health Centre (CHC) Lambi, aimed to empower ASHAs and ASHA Supervisors to promote organ donation within their communities.

The session began with an engaging role-play activity led by medical interns from AIIMS Bathinda. This was followed by a comprehensive health talk delivered by Dr. Prakash, Senior Resident, who addressed the growing need for organ transplants, various types of organ donation (living and deceased), organs and tissues that can be donated, the donor registration process, and the network of nodal, state, and regional centers for organ and tissue transplants.

The session also focused on dispelling common myths and misconceptions surrounding organ donation.

The session actively encouraged ASHAs and ASHA Supervisors to become organ donors themselves and serve as champions for organ donation awareness within their communities.
