Bhagwant Mann Government Advancing Welfare of Minorities and Marginalized Sections: Harpal Singh Cheema

Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema and Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains paid obeisance to Bahujan Samaj Party   Founder late Babu Kanshi Ram  on his 92nd birth anniversary during a commemorative event held at Village Pirthipur. The program was organized to remember the immense contribution of Babu Kanshi Ram toward the upliftment of marginalized and minority communities and the establishment of a strong movement for social justice. On the occasion, Cheema said the Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is committed to safeguarding the rights and welfare of minorities and socially weaker sections. He also highlighted the historic contribution of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Ji in shaping an equitable society and protecting the rights of oppressed communities through constitutional safeguards.

Speaking on the occasion, Cheema said that the Punjab and Haryana High Court has taken a progressive step by reserving representation for the Scheduled Caste community in the Advocate General’s office, making it one of the first such initiatives in the country. He described the decision as a significant milestone in ensuring social justice and equal opportunities in the legal system. The Finance Minister also announced that all the demands raised by the village panchayat have been accepted. He assured residents that the development of the government school in the village will soon be completed with an estimated cost of Rs 2 crore to provide better educational facilities for students.

Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains also visited the village to participate in the birth anniversary celebrations and paid tribute to Babu Kanshi Ram. Addressing the gathering, Bains announced that the Government School of the village will be renamed after Babu Kanshi Ram Ji to honor his historic contribution toward social empowerment and equality. He said that government school students across Punjab are achieving remarkable milestones and proving their capabilities in competitive examinations. Bains proudly shared that out of 305 students from government schools who qualified the JEE examination, nearly 240 belong to the Scheduled Caste community, reflecting the growing educational empowerment among marginalized sections.

The Education Minister further said that the government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is working on the principle of equality and inclusive governance. He stated that people are increasingly placing their trust in the policies and activities of the Aam Aadmi Party government, which is focused on ensuring equal opportunities, quality education and social justice for every section of society. Bains also said that SC scholarships are reaching in time in Educational Institutions for welfare of students. Former MLA Gurpreet Singh GP along with several prominent personalities including Dr. Sanjeev Gautam and Kamikker Singh Dhadi also paid tribute to Babu Kanshi Ram Ji. The gathering collectively remembered his legacy and reaffirmed their commitment to building a society based on equality, dignity and empowerment for all.
