Capt fulfilled its promise made to the residents of Malerkotla in 2017

After four years, Capt Amarinder Singh, chief minister of Punjab has fulfilled its promise, made to the resident of Malerkotla.
He accepted the long pending demand of the residents of the Malerkotla, a sub division in Sangrur district and made the 23rd district of Punjab. Malerkotla was established in 1454, historical town.
Our government would make Malerkotla a separate district on coming to power and Muslims of Punjab would be given the same benefits as being provided to Dalits,“ said Capt Amarinder Singh, in a statement in 2017,during the election campaign of MLA Razia Sultana.
Last time on 27 July 2011, Fazilka and Pathankot was declared as 21st and 22nd districts by the Government of Punjab with Gazette Notification.
He also announces a Sher Mohammad Khan Medical College to be established on Raikot road in 25 acres land, a Girls College, a Women Police station , grant for up gradation of bus stand along with restoration of Mubarak Manzil in collaboration with Aga Khan Foundation.
CM clarified that to promote the cultural heritage of Malerkotla, the he had already written to His Highness the Aga Khan Foundation U.K. to undertake conservation and restoration of Mubarak Manzil Palace, occupied by Begum Sahiba Munawwar ul Nisa, the wife of Nawab Iftikhar Ali Khan, the last ruler of Malerkotla. The Punjab Government has acquired the Mubarak Manzil Palace, and its restoration and upkeep would be a befitting tribute to the Nawabs of Malerkotla to perpetuate the rich legacy of the historic city, he said.
Going down his memory lane, the Chief Minister recalled his own cordial ties with the then Nawab of Malerkotla, whom he fondly called ‘Chachaji’ and who lovingly addressed him ‘Bhateej’ (Nephew) during his early childhood visits to the city.
Water Supply & Sanitation Minister and MLA Malerkotla Razia Sultana, PPCC President Sunil Jakhar and Mufti Irtika ul Hasan also spoke on the occasion.
