Giving a big bonanza to the residents of Faridkot district, the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann today dedicated/ laid foundation stone of several key projects worth around 55.80 crore in the district thereby giving a major fillip to its holistic development.
In order to solve the sewerage problem in the district, the Chief Minister dedicated a new Sewerage Treatment Plant with the capacity of 14 MLD along with new MPS to the people. The STP and MPS have been constructed at a cost of Rs 25.71 crore and will immensely benefit the people of the district. Bhagwant Singh Mann also inaugurated a project for augmentation of the water supply scheme in the Faridkot city.
The Chief Minister said that this will help in regular supply of potable drinking water to people thereby immensely benefitting them. He said that the state government is committed for the well being of people and holistic development of the state. Bhagwant Singh Mann also laid the foundation stone of Block III (Treasury Block) in the District Administrative Complex (DAC) of the district.
The Chief Minister said that the state government has already earmarked Rs 9.71 crore for this project and as per it the building will house offices of 21 departments. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that this will immensely facilitate the people of Jaiton and Kotakpura assembly segments by facilitating them. He also laid the foundation stone of new construction/ widening and strengthening of the 15. 925 kilometre road from Faridkot-Ferozepur road to Pakhi Kalan-Pehluwala Khawaja Khadak road.

The Chief Minister said that the work will be undertaken at a cost of Rs 12.01 crore and will facilitate the commuters Pakhi Kalan, Pehluwala Khawaja Khadak, Malewal and surrounding villages besides solving the traffic problem of the area. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the work has already been started and will be completed before August 2024 to benefit the villagers of the area. He also announced that projects worth Rs 144.35 crore will also be kicked off in Faridkot in coming days.
The Chief Minister said that this will include special repair of link roads at a cost of Rs 8.99 crore, construction of Sports School in Jand Sahib at a cost of Rs 3.82 crore, construction of PHC in Jand Sahib at a cost of Rs 4.30 crore and construction of bye-pass from Faridkot – Deep Singh wala to Amritsar Bathinda National highway at a cost of Rs 62.29 crore. Likewise, he said that Rs 4.42 will be spent on construction of multipurpose auditorium in Government Barjindra College, Rs 1.58 for upgrading infrastructure in Desh Bhagat Pandit Chetan Dev Government College, Rs 20.54 crore for construction of Steel bridge over Kotakpura to Faridkot Rajasthan Feeder canal and Faridkot to Kotakpura Sirhind Feeder Canal, Rs 15.64 crore on construction of steel bridge at village Machaki Mal Singh and Rs 22.77 crore on construction of Steel Bridge over Faridkot to Mudki Rajasthan Feeder and Talwandi to Faridkot Sirhind Canal. Bhagwant Singh Mann envisioned that these projects will give further impetus to comprehensive development of Faridkot district.
